Port Board Elects R. Jay Allen Chair of the Port of Stockton Commission

rj_featureStockton, CA – In a unanimous vote, the Port of Stockton Commissioners elected R. Jay Allen as the new Board Chair for 2016.

Mr. Allen is a partner with Stone Troger-Allen Investment, a private real estate developer and investment company in Stockton, and has served on the Port Board for the past five years. During that time, leasing activity has increased and the Port now has warehouse occupancy rate at an all-time high of 97 percent. In recent years, the Port has attracted more than $2.5 billion in private capital investment, which has created more than 2,000 new jobs for the local community.

“Jay’s extensive knowledge of leasing commercial and industrial properties as well as lease negotiations have furthered development at the Port, which has contributed to making our facility an important part of the economic foundation of our community. He will be a great Chair,” said Stockton Port Commissioner Stephen Griffen.

The Port has experienced back-to-back record setting years in regards to ship traffic and is positioning itself for future growth by currently focusing on infrastructure improvements. These investments are focused on increasing goods movement efficiency and making the Port even more attractive to the private sector.
